Money Laundering Prevention
Here at the Credit Union we take compliance seriously and in line with Anti Money Laundering regulations we have procedures in place to deter Money Laundering.
Some of you will have noticed that when you visit one of our branches, staff will ask to take your photograph to keep on your credit union file.
As a Financial Services Organisation we do have to comply with Anti Money Laundering Regulations and all members MUST prove that:
'they are who they say they are' and
that 'they live where they say they live'
and provide the necessary evidence of this.
We ask to take your photograph purely as an enhanced security feature on your account with us but please note you do have the right to refuse if you so wish.
Financial Services compensation scheme - important information about compensation arrangements.
We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FSCS can pay copensation to depositors if a credit union is unable to meet its financial obligations. Most depositors - including most individuals and small businesses are covered by the scheme.
In respect of deposits, an eligible depositor is entitled to claim up to £85,000. For joint accounts each account holder is treated as having a claim in respect of their share so, for a joint account held by two eligible depositors, the maximum amount that could be claimed would be £85,000 each (making a total of £170,000). The £85,000 limit relates to the combined amount in all the eligible depositor's accounts with the credit union including their share of any joint account and not to each separate account.
We are also part of the Financial Ombudsman Service and have to maintain written complaints handling, policy and procedures. A copy of our Complaints Policy can be found below.
